Welcome to Rachel Krauss Therapies. Totnes, Devon
Counselling and psychotherapy. Massage and injury therapy.
My journey into counselling
Hello and welcome to my website.
I began studying counselling back in 2008, adding training in remedial and soft tissue massage therapy shortly after. Since then, I have had the opportunity to work in both the UK and abroad, working and learning alongside other therapists who share my passion for providing support on an individual and personal level.
Living abroad certainly had its benefits; not only was I able to travel and explore the world, but over 8 years ago I also met my husband in the beautiful city of Cape Town.
Previous and current experience
Fast forward to 2016, my husband and I moved to Devon where I now work part-time as both a counsellor and injury therapist in the heart of beautiful Totnes town. Alongside my private practice, I also run a programme with local primary and secondary schools to provide counselling services for students who need both short and long-term therapeutic support.
As a counsellor, I have worked with charities and schools, as well as in private practice. I have also worked extensively as a remedial and soft tissue massage therapist with sports teams, as well as with people experiencing chronic pain, postural issues, anxiety and trauma.
I am passionate about working with people of all ages, and offer a down to earth, welcoming and relaxed space to work together.
The student in me is still as eager as ever, and I am currently undertaking a Master's degree in Counselling Children and Young People. The travelling side...well, let's say I still make time for a good holiday when I can!
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists and hold full insurance for all my work.
My role is all about looking after you. For many of us, this can be an unfamiliar or even uncomfortable concept and the reality is that our physical and emotional health can often slip to the bottom of the list when life gets hectic and stressful.
Being able to look after ourselves means we not only have more resources and resilience for ourselves as individuals, but we have more compassion, kindness and energy to give to others.
Improving our physical health can have a profound effect on our mental health and vice versa. My own experience of both therapies has been life changing and it is for this reason that I chose to train in counselling and massage therapy.
It's not just about taking action to look after yourself in the moment but also investing in your future self and what you want long-term; do you want to feel happier / free from pain / able to move more easily / be able to connect and communicate with others differently? These are the things that are important in our lives.
I look forward to working with you to enable the changes that you want to see.
